Kaiser Permanente, confronted with a massive nationwide strike that includes 23,000 Bay Area workers, has shut a number of out-patient pharmacies across the region. The strike over under-staffing, wages and other issues is set for three days, but the union coalition representing workers noted Wednesday that workers had voted to stop work for up to 10 days. The strike could be extended if the unions cannot come to an agreement with the health care giant, the coalition said. Kaiser advised its patients to order medications by mail at kp.
